Akanda flower plant

Akanda is a perennial shrub. The plant can grow 2.5 m high with various branches and sub-branches. Akanda has oval, light green leaves and a milky stem.

This plant blooms white or lavender in color. Its flower consists of pointed five petals and a small beautiful crown, which holds the stamen. In India, the Akanda flower is common in the compounds of temples.

The plant is also known as effective in treating skin, digestive, respiratory, circulatory, and neurological disorders and is used to treat fevers, elephantiasis, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, etc.

Care guide

  • During the winter, potted plants are overwintered. Be careful not to overwater. Their feet do not like standing in water!
  • Mix perlite or sand into potting soil for good drainage
  • If you don’t want additional seedlings next spring, cut off the seed pods before they pop open or bind them to shut with twist ties or rubber bands if you want to collect milkweed tree seeds. Seeding is less likely to be a problem for those growing in annual zones.
