Chinese elm bonsai

Abana Homes Chinese Elm is one of the most famous bonsai trees, especially among beginners. These lovely semi-evergreen trees grow up to 65 feet tall in their native habitat. But they can be cultivated in miniature form for Bonsai for generations.

It is a perfect choice for those just starting out because it is a slow-growing and tolerant plant. The Ulmus allows beginners plenty of time and forgiveness to grow accustomed to bonsai. It is one of the most loved and most undemanding miniature trees.

It has a highly predictable growth pattern, making it an excellent choice for beginners who are just getting used to training Bonsai.

Care Guide

Light: The Chinese elm grows well in either full sun and/or partial shade. In temperate climates, it can be grown outdoors even during the winter months.

Water: The Chinese Elm does not endure prolonged drought or constant moisture. Wait until the topsoil is dry, and then water. Make sure the entire root mass is watered.

Soil: They need a potting mix having well-drained soil. The Chinese elm bonsai can also survive in moist or wet soils and drought-like conditions.

Fertilizer: During the growing season, make sure to provide plenty of fertilizer to nourish your Chinese Elm bonsai. You do not need to use fancy fertilizers. A combination of solid organic fertilizer with a well-balanced liquid chemical fertilizer is enough.

Temperature: Ulmus bonsai trees prefer temperatures between 60-70-degrees Fahrenheit.
