Dracaena Reflexa Plant
Dracaena reflexa plant is native to Mozambique, Madagascar, Mauritius, and other nearby islands of the Indian Ocean. It is widely grown as an ornamental plant and houseplant, praised for its richly colored, evergreen leaves, and thick, irregular stems.
This adaptable, houseplant grows well indoors or in a partially-shady outdoor area, like a patio. They grow up to about 3ft tall indoors, which takes a fair few year, and have a bushy tree type of look.
Dracaena reflexa plant is one of the most effective houseplants in air purification. By removing formaldehyde, benzene, trichloroethylene, and carbon dioxide, this plant purifies your home. These are chemicals linked with many health problems among them headaches, respiratory problems, anemia, marrow disease, and kidney disease among others.
Care guide
Temperature: The ideal temperatures for this plant are between 60°F (15°C) – 80°F (27°C). If the temperature falls below 55°F/12°C, it will cause harm to the plant. Also, keep the plant away from a cold draft.
Light: A bright spot without direct sunshine is highly suitable. Provide morning or evening sun to dracaena reflexa.
Watering: Keep the soil slightly moist at all times and in the colder months allow the soil to dry. You can leave a dracaena reflexa for up to a month during winter without water and no harm would be caused to the plant. However, overwatering can kill this plant.
Soil: A fast-draining potting soil mix is better to use.
Fertilizer: Fertilize every four weeks from April until September using a 10-10 10 diluted liquid fertilizer.
Re-Potting: Re-pot once every 2 -3 years and a pot one size bigger if it’s becoming terribly pot bound. However, slightly pot bound is fine.
