Laxman Booti Plant (Sanjeevani Booti Plant)
A magical herb, Sanjeevani booti, is said to have the ability to heal serious neurological problems according to Hinduism. It was believed that medicines made from this herb could revive situations where death was almost certain.
The herb is mentioned in the Ramayana when Ravana’s son Indrajita (Meghnada) throws a powerful weapon at Lakshmana. Almost killed by Indrajita, Lakshmana suffers severe injuries.
A call was sent to Hanuman to fetch this herb from Mt. Dronagiri (Mahodaya) in the Himalayas. After reaching Dronagiri Parvata, Hanuman was unable to identify the herb and lifted the whole mountain.
Since August 2016, the Himalayan state of Uttarakhand in northern India has committed 250 million rupees of state funds to the search for Sanjeevani Booti. As it is believed to have medicinal properties according to Ayurvedic medicine.
Search efforts were focused on the Dronagiri range near the Chinese border of the Himalayas. As mentioned in the Ramayana, the magical herb is said to grow in the Dronagiri range, likely to be the mountain mentioned in the Ramayana.
