Radermachera Bonsai Tree
Radermachera plant known as the China doll is native to southern China and Taiwan. In its native habitat in the right conditions, this plant grows 90 inches tall. It produces bipinnate compound leaves that are 30 inches long with glossy dark green leaflets of 2 inches long.
This bonsai plant blooms fragrant, trumpet-shaped, crinkly-petaled flowers. The flowers are yellow or white, each 3 inches long. In spring and summer, they bloom in panicles at the leaf axils or branch ends.
The bonsai easily adapted to indoor growing conditions. They have a tolerance to the warm and dry air of heated homes. Due to its attractive foliage, it brings grace to any decor it is kept on. As it is a medium-size plant it is suitable for tabletop or floor.
Care Guide
Light: Provide them bright, indirect location with little to no direct sunlight. Do not keep them in deep shade at all costs.
Temperature: The ideal temperature for the growth of Radermachera is 16-24 degrees C.
Soil: Keep them in relatively moist soil due to its intolerance to long periods of droughts. Place a pebble tray to slow the rate of drying soil.
Water: Allow the topsoil to dry out in between waters in the growing period. Reduce the frequency of watering in the autumn and winter months.
Fertilizer: Feed every 4 weeks during the growing period. After that reduce fertilization to every six in the autumn & winter. Any organic fertilizer is okay.
Growing tips for Radermachera Bonsai
- Place the plant in natural indirect bright Light.
- While watering, insert your finger or small stick into the soil to check the moisture.
- Provide watering when topsoil (1-2 inches) feels dry to touch.
- Do not re-pot for min. 2 weeks after receiving the bonsai plant.
