Varun plant

This medium-sized deciduous tree has greenish-yellow flowers borne in corymbs measuring 5 centimeters in diameter and containing purplish stamens.

Its bark is smooth and brown in color with horizontal wrinkles and has been used around 3000 years ago to treat urinary tract infections, kidney stones, prostate-related disorders, and many other diseases. Additionally, the branches are white and tinged with yellow and purple patches.

Planting and care

  • This Plant thrives and blooms under full sunlight.
  • It needs well-drained, fertile rich organic soil to thrive.
  • Water the Varun plant from the base and keep in mind not to overwater it.
  • During summer, increase the frequency of watering and moderate in the rainy and winter season.
  • Make sure the roots of the plant are damp but not overly wet.
  • Add diluted fertilizers into the water. If you are adding fertilizers directly to the plant, water the soil immediately.
  • Do not add fertilizer near the plant base.
  • To ensure the planting is not compact and the plant can bloom to its full potential, dig down a hole 2 feet in depth and 3 feet across. 
  • For insect or pest attacks, use Eucalyptus oil, Neem oil, or Citrus oil spray for the primary treatment.
