First love plant (xanthostemon chrysanthus)

First Love ‘Yellow’, is quite unknown outside its native country, and is rare to find. But it blooms the flowers that are sweetly fragrant and attract butterflies and hummingbirds.

Bloom time in the Northern hemisphere lasts from winter to early spring, which makes it especially valuable. Additionally, in subtropical and tropical areas, this plant flowers reliably and often within 2-3 years from seed.

The plant foliage is attractive when the plant is not flowering, with the leaves being large and glossy. The best place for this plant is in sunny spots and well-drained and moist soils.

The stamens are the principal feature of the flowers, similar to their relatives, the eucalypts, and bottlebrushes. Flowering usually occurs in summer and autumn.

Care Guide

Sunlight: Keep this plant in a place with bright direct sunlight for its optimal growth.

Soil: Use the well-drained and fertile soil that is rich in organic content.

Watering: Insert your finger/plain small stick into the soil to check the moisture. And water when topsoil (1-2 inches) feels dry to touch. Also, water deeply in the summer and reduce watering in winter and rainy seasons.

Fertilizer: During the growing season fertilize the plant with organic fertilizer once a month. In addition, loosen the topsoil without disturbing the roots, so it can easily uptake nutrients and moisture.
