Epipremnum Pinnatum (dragon tail plant)
Epipremnum pinnatum is a huge aroid root-climber with a network of aerial clasping roots that runs up trees and rock surfaces. It is a strong plant that may produce stems 30 to 50 meters long and can grow tall into the canopy with a stem 2 to 4 cm in diameter and aerial roots. Though, it will be small indoors.
Dragon tail plant generates mature green leaves. Young leaves have complete edges and are elliptical to arrow-shaped. Mature leaves are thick, leathery, and deeply incised along the margins, resembling Monstera leaves up to 30-50cm long.
Plants generate thick fleshy stalks that creep around the pot’s surface or climb up. Just bear in mind that all portions are dangerous, so keep it away from little hands and fuzzy paws.
Caring Tips
- The leaves can turn yellow and even burn if exposed to too much direct sunlight.
- If the light is insufficient, the distance between the leaves will extend, and the stem will eventually become leafless. In this case, you should transfer your plant to a brighter location.
- Increase feeding to every two weeks if you want to see faster results.
- You can simply clip the stems back if your dragon tail is getting too wild for you or causing the pot to tip over.
- To give these plants room to grow, repot it every 1-2 years.
- The optimum soil for the Dragon Tail Plant drains properly.
