Ficus benghalensis bonsai Plant

Ficus benghalensis is an evergreen and rapid-growing tree. These are mainly found in monsoons and rainforests.  Moreover, it is the national tree of India.  A further fantastic observation is that its aerial roots, upon reaching the ground, begin to take root and grow into woody trunks.

Ficus benghalensis is a miniature bonsai tree with a moody and protective look. It is truly unique in that the large canopy and the strong trunks slowly welcome the aerial roots.

Additionally, it has a spreading crown. When grown as a bonsai or a potted plant indoors—they reach up to 5-10ft tall. As an outdoor canopy, they can reach mammoth heights of 65-98 ft!

Care guide

Light: Many bonsai cultivators suggest indirect lighting for the Ficus benghalensis. Just like its huge original banyan structure, the bonsai prefers to grow best when placed under bright indirect light.

Water: While watering, make sure the soil is dry. If the soil is moist, leave it and come back when it is not. Watering once every 3-4 days during summer is an ideal routine for this plant.

Soil: When being grown in a pot, the Ficus benghalensis bonsai requires fertile soil with plenty of drainage holes.

Temperature: Ficus benghalensis bonsai is a plant that prefers the warm sun. This bonsai cannot tolerate cold temperatures of any amount. Low temperatures and messy drafts of air can damage the Ficus benghalensis. A temperature above 15˚C will do, but optimal growing conditions are 21˚C and above.

Fertilizer: Applying a week’s dose once or twice a month, during the growing months. It helps the plant a lot. Apply a liquid fertilizer alternating between organic and mineral. This is quite vital for the Ficus benghalensis to achieve maximum growth.
