Aglaonema Silver Queen

Aglaonema silver plant, often known as painted drop tongue, is a free-branching evergreen perennial. It’s a popular houseplant that thrives in dim lighting. It is planted mostly for its gorgeous variegated leaves rather than its blooms. On short stems growing from the soil, thick, elliptic to lance-shaped dark green leaves with elegant silver-gray variegation gives an aesthetic look. They are known for silvery-white leaves with green veins and edges. The leaves grow in an upright position.

As the lower leaves fall off, the plant begins to produce a trunk-like stem. Flowers bloom on a tiny creamy white spadix with a greenish-yellow spathe surrounding it. Flowers blossom in the summer and early fall. The clusters of orange berries emerge after the flowers. Indoors, you can rarely witness flowers and fruit.

Aglaonema silver queen plants can endure some shade thanks to their marbled darker green color. The NASA list of air-purifying plants includes Aglaonema Chinese Evergreens plants. They have been shown to eliminate benzene and formaldehyde pollutants from homes. Aglaonema Silver Queen is a popular variety that is frequently used in uplifting the look of homes and offices as a feature plant or in combination with other Chinese Evergreens.

Growing Tips for Aglaonema silver plant

  • Aglaonema thrives in a wide range of light conditions. More light is required when the leaf color is light.
  • The soil of the Silver Queen plant should always be kept moist. It should not be allowed to dry out. Overwatering can affect root rot, so be careful.
  • These plants do well in regular room temperatures of 18-24°C; however, you should strictly avoid drafts to minimize unwanted temperature swings.
  • Although silver queen plants can handle lower humidity than some other plants, they will appreciate your attempts to boost the humidity levels in the surrounding area by spraying on a regular basis.
